ELOCOT 2015 in Vienna, June 10 2015

I am happy to announce that I am organizing ELOCOT 2015, a one day event that will take place in conjunction with the VEROLOG 2015 in Vienna on June 10th 2015. ELOCOT will be a forum for academics, practitioners, and policy makers discussing current research, trends, and successful use cases of electric mobility.

I am happy to announce, that VEROLOG 2015, the fourth meeting of the EURO Working Group on Vehicle Routing and Logistics Optimization will take place in Vienna. I am co-organizing the conference together with Richard Hartl and Karl Dörner both from the Univeristy of Vienna, We will have an interesting programme, great invited speakers (Martin Savelsbergh from GeorgiaTech and Tolga Bektas from the University of Southampton), and of course nice social events.

EMILIA (Electric Mobility for Innovative Freight Logistics in Austria) will be funded

We just received the information, that our project EMILIA will be funded. The corresponding press release of the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund can be found here (in German). EMILIA primarily focusses on the development and experimental implementation of novel freight logistics concepts for urban areas especially tailored towards a significant use of electric mobility ranging from e-cargo tricycles to alternative fuelled road trains.

Logistics Research Austria (LRA) is a newly founded association including most of the Austrian research institutes and organisations active in the area of logistics. AIT issued a press release on LRA (in German).

Im Rahmen dieser Diplomarbeit sollen Algorithmen (Heuristiken, Metaheuristiken) für die Tourenplanung im Heimkrankenpflegebereich entwickelt und implementiert werden. Die neu entwickelten Methoden sollen in ein bestehendes Framework (Java) integriert und auf Instanzen mit realistischen Eigenschaften evaluiert und mit bereits existierenden Verfahren verglichen werden. Course on Optimisation Methods in Transport Logistics

I will be holding a course on optimisation methods in transport logistics (Optimierungsverfahren in der Transportlogistik) at Vienna UT. The course starts on Tuesday, March 8th.  It will cover exact and (meta-)heuristic methods for solving transport optimisation problems, such as the travelling salesman problem or vehicle routing variants. There is a website for the course (in German) containing detailed information and slides.

The second issue of the AIT magazine "tomorrow today" is available for download (English version, German version). This issue presents our department (Mobility) and contains some information about our work on logistics and transport optimisation.
